Album: Butterflys,Lipstick,and Hand Grenades | ||
"Butterflys, Lipsticks, and Hand Grenades"—now I know you never thought about these three things all together. But, our next artist has with the release of his new album entitled "Butterflys, Lipsticks, and Hand Grenades". Singer, Chris Marsol, is certainly making a name for himself in the Indie culture and I can see why after having the pleasure to listen to his music. Wow! I was blown away to say the least.
But, should I expect anything less from a guy who started at the age 6 singing in his church choir and stealing the spotlight from everyone else while dancing at his family reunions? Don't answer that! I already know the answer. More amazingly is that by that time Chris turned 17 he taught himself how to play the piano.
As he continued to absorb the music, he began to learn how to play the guitar. With such influences such as Pink Floyd, Cream, Stevie Wonder, Nirvana, Genesis, Terence Trent D'Arby, Stone Temple Pilots, D'Angelo, Radiohead, Hall and Oates and Elton John, Chris is ready to make his mark in the music industry. Check out this recently online feature from the folks of Music Now on Juniorscave.com.
Isaac-Joseph: Chris, how are you doing this Sunday afternoon?
Chris: I'm doing great.
Isaac-Joseph: Let me first state that you are a truly amazing talented young man. What was your inspiration for your forth coming album, "Butterflys, Lipstick, and Hand Grenades"?
Chris: I'm glad you like it. My inspiration for the album was....I had so much music in my head and for a long time I had no way of recording it. All the arrangements and musical ideas gave me insomnia and almost drove me to the brink of insanity. I just needed a way to get all that music out of my head.
Isaac-Joseph: You are from the Bay Area, CA, USA. How has this area influenced your music? Do you think that you would have the same style if you were living in say Georgia?
Chris: The Bay Area is so eclectic and diverse that it really opened up my mind and made it possible to step outside of "normal". Other than New York, I don't know that I would have had that much exposure to so many different cultures and ideas and styles if I grew up somewhere else....and all that is in my music. At the same time, I don't want people don't hear my music and immediately recognize what region it comes from. I think my sound is more universal than that.
Isaac-Joseph: In your bio, you stated that you can bring "the Rock lover, the Soul lover and the Pop music lover together in one blissful Technicolor orgy". Explain to my audience what do you mean with this statement:
Chris: Rock is blue, Soul is orange and Pop is yellow. Individually they are vibrant, but when put together they create a rainbow. Rainbows are always more interesting. Don't you think?
Isaac-Joseph: Uh Huh!
Isaac-Joseph: When I am listening to your music, I can hear many of your influences' style in your deliverance of your own music. Who has been your biggest influence and why?2007 will bring tons and tons of great stuff for us at the Coastal Beat--the best is yet to come!!!
